This week’s (Re)Engage event brought together alumni from our cohorts, Coaches Academy and Crain’s Academy experiences. The energy was electric – truly a family reunion. We announced Emily Drake joining us as full partner and assuming the role of CEO, launched The Collective and most importantly got (re)connected with the incredible, aspirational people who make up our community.
“Flank 5 Academy has grown as a powerful community for me personally, and for all of our partners, clients, and leaders that we have had the privilege to work with,” said Todd Connor, Founder. “Tonight marks the next exciting phase of growth for this special community. With Emily joining us, we are poised to deepen our strategic partnerships, bring new services to the market, and be of greater service to people, their professional lives, and their communities.”
Co-founder Eric Connor added, “It was so fulfilling to be back immersed in the energy we have all felt as we’ve been part of the Flank 5 Academy culture. From day one we have focused on building programs that would foster not only accountability and top-notch education, but also deep support and affirmation. Trying to grow in leadership or career or opportunity is so difficult to do in isolation.”
New CEO Emily rounded out remarks with her own perspective, as a Flank 5 Academy alumna and now helping to lead the organization, “Our vision for 2016 is big – building on what we know works, and what’s really fun for us – creating a space for individuals to do their internal work to make a profound impact as leaders in their external work. I’m particularly excited about The Collective, a brand-new way for individuals to access our programming in-between our cohort and corporate offerings.”
Without question, the highlight of the evening was hearing from Flank 5 Academy alumni – Shane Elliott and Erica Bauer – who took the mic to share their experience.
“After my Crain’s Academy experience with Flank, I was riding an emotional wave of energy,” said Shane, an insurance executive starting a new job on Monday. “I realized that I really needed support and perspective from others to keep that momentum. I often met with fellow participants from the event, both in a large group setting or sometimes just one-on-one, to keep ideas flowing. Now, as I still navigate the many options and directions I can charter, I made a big change: from insurance to business development for a law firm. This is definitely different than what I’ve done the past nine years.”
We are so grateful to all who attended – in particular for being of service to each other. The networking and connecting was outstanding. We’re so inspired by your stories, and hope you’re as energized as we are for what’s to come in 2016!
