Building Your Personal Advisory Board: Part 2

Starting a business involves skills and requires perspectives that we don’t always have license to explore when we are working for an organization, in a role that has more clarity in function.

Today, we invite you to be entrepreneurial from where you sit. This series is about your personal advisory board. It’s not a board concerned just with profit and loss, but advancing you and challenging you as you grow throughout the year.

So, who has what you want? Who has what you need?

Once you’ve taken stock, and before you reach out, consider: do you have people from different industries, of diverse backgrounds, and new perspectives in your circle?

Now, stretch:  identify people who have what you want, even if they seem intimidating or “too busy.”

Once you’ve got 6 - 8 people identified, with a clear reason for why you want them on your board, you’re ready to reach out.

Stay tuned for part three where we show you how.
